Little Manhattan

This is one of the very few movies that hit me with a surprise. In the first few minutes of the movie, I thought it’s going to be boring, with no big star cast, a story about two kids in love, etc etc., well… how does that sound interesting. However, take it from me, the movie was awesome! Love, the beauty and pain associated with it cannot be better explained.

The story is about a 10 year old boy - Gabe falling in love with an 11 year old Rosemary, in his karate class. He is in love for the first time ever in his life and does all sweet things that an average lover boy does and finally ends up with a broken heart!

The best part of this movie is the music and dialogs. Really one should listen to the dialogs as they flow to actually feel it.

A few (Actually loads) of my favs dialogs:

Gabe: Somewhere a million miles away, the girl I once loved was going down her road, and I was stuck back on mine.

--

Gabe: Suddenly, I knew what I had to do. Love isn't about ridiculous little words. Love is about grand gestures. Love is about airplanes pulling banners over stadiums, proposals on jumbo-trons, giant words in sky writing. Love is about going that extra mile even if it hurts, letting it all hang out there. Love is about finding courage inside of you that you didn't even know was there.

--

Gabe: As I held onto Rosemary Telesco for dear life, we both knew the truth. She was going off to camp and eventually, private school. We were on different roads, she and me. Two ships that passed in Sheep Meadow.

--

Gabe: See, this is just like I told you. Same thing I knew getting into this whole mess - love ends.

--

Gabe: The truth is, you come into this world alone and leave it the exact same way.

--

Gabe: Love is an ugly, terrible business practiced by fools. It'll trample your heart and leave you bleeding on the floor. And what does it really get you in the end? Nothing but a few incredible memories that you can't ever shake. The truth is, there's gonna be other girls out there. I mean, I hope. But I'm never gonna get another first love. That one is always gonna be her.

--

Old Man on the Street: I had a girlfriend once upon a time, too. She trampled my heart. Left me bleeding on the floor. Run.

Gabe: What?

Old Man on the Street: Run while you still can, brother. Take my advice. Make like the wind.

--

Gabe: Look at me. I can bounce back. I don't need some girl in my life for me to happy.

--

Gabe: There are very few things more painful than watching the woman you love grapple with another man. Actually, I take that back. There are no things more painful.

--

Gabe: But it wasn't that easy. I guess love never is.

--

Ahhh… Sweet isn’t it! Amazing that a 10 yr old boy can think so matured! Maybe it’s cos he has a hell a lot of time ahead. Maybe cos he is not a 20 ish old guy! Whatever it is…This movie is a "Must watch" for anyone who like to spend 2 hrs of their life With Gabe, Like Gabe!

The Notebook - Watched it over and over but it still remains fresh!

The Notebook, for some reason is the one of the best movies I have ever watched. It is completely worth every dime and time you spend! Oh boy! Do guys like Noah Calhoun (Played by the handsome, Ryan Gosling) really exist now? Or is it only in the “long long ago, so long ago” era?

Well, the movie did not have any major glitch. (Even if it had, it deflected from my tear-filled eyes…he he). Just like the Kollywood and Bollywood movies our poor hero, Noah meets the rich, beautiful, city bred girl, Allie (Played by Rachel Mc Adams).

Noah is naughty, flattering, and falls crazily in love with Alley. Predictably, how can any girl resist such a charming lad? Yes, Little Miss. Alley falls in love with Noah, and yeah… they hang out, have fun, ultimately, they are crazzzzy about each other.

Now just as expected (from an Indian movie though!), Alley’s mom is totally against this love, calls it puppy love, and sends her off to school, out her love’s reach. After 7 years of separation, Ally returns to the same old town with her fiancé – Lon (Played by James Marsden). She meets Noah again and finds out that he is still crazily in love with her. Well… again little miss sunshine couldn’t resist his magnetic love…falls for him again! This time, she struggles, realizes what she really wants in her life (With help of Noah, of course) and puts her foot down that her life is with Noah.

All is well, but the real sweetness unfolds when the director shows how the couple lives when they turn 60. Alley falls in to a strange memory sickness and loses all the sweet memories of their love, marriage life, and Noah but old Noah’s love for her only increases. The movie has a sad but a satisfying climax! (No other climax would have been perfect!)

Sherlock Holmes comes Alive in Big Screen!

Oh boy!!! One of the fine men I loved from the fiction world comes alive with the magic of Guy Ritchie. Though I didn’t watch his other movies but Snatch… he has set my expectation level so high that I now want to catch up on the rest of the movies too!!! Well... don’t ask me if I am a big film critic or something, I am simply elated and having the after effects of watching a damn good movie after a long time!

The protagonist– Sherlock Holmes is played by none other than the ever charming Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law is playin Dr.Watson! (If I had ever known Dr.Watson will look as stunning as Jude I would have fallen in love with him in the first place!!! Never mind my drooling!). Though the cast of this movie include Rachel McAdams, Mark Strong, and a few others you can watch it for just Holmes and Watson! And yea... muscle twisting action scenes!

The dialogues between Holmes and Watson are out of the world!!! They’re witty, cheesy, funny, clever, and what not! The movie is definitely worth a couple of wink less hours you spend! If you love Action Comedies then this movie is a must watch!

I am planning to watch it again for 4 good reasons – Jude law, excellent screen play, I hav some spare time this week, and ummm.. Jude Law again! ;)
